2016-2017 Mission Statement and Goals
Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide a safe, healthy and fun educational experience for all students, as well as, support and speak on behalf of the students and families at Serene Lake Elementary.
Goals
1: Promote inclusiveness with a focus on continued community building.
Broaden our outreach program to encourage participation/membership in PTSA among parents who have not been involved in the past by utilizing a wide range of parents and not just rely on a small core of volunteers for programs and events.
Support PTSA programs that develop community, including traditional and new programs.
Offer events that bring families together for inexpensive entertainment with other families such as: Family Fun Nights, Back to School BBQ, Movie Night, Dinner Nights Out and Spring Carnival.
Providing opportunities for students to help kids in need beyond our own school community.
2: Support staff.
Demonstrate sensitivity to the increased demands on school staff and administration.
Continue the open dialog with staff about how to meet their needs.
Continue to provide funding to support teacher purchases made for classroom instruction.
3: Facilitate communication between Serene Lake Elementary staff, PTSA, parents, students, other district schools, and surrounding community.
Proactively communicate with parents through the School Reader Board, School signage and PTSA monthly newsletter to encourage participation in PTSA activities.
Increase usage of the list-serv for easy access to school information, including announcements, event, calendar, and program information.
Provide PTSA board representation at monthly staff meeting and general PTSA meeting.
